International Book Giving Day

bookgivingday201602

Remember my diaries? The slow movement’s one says February is the month of reading! Yay! It also says today (14 February) is Book Loving Day. Ha, why not? So, Mark Watney, would you be my Valentine? ;)

Other sources say it is International Book Giving Day today!

So I gave a book each to my kids: Julia Donaldson’s A Squash and a Squeeze (A zsúfolt házikó) to my daughter and Judit Berg’s Tökmagok Afrikában to my son who is reading more and more on his own (he is not yet five and a half). I gave a copy of one of my favourites, Volt egyszer egy by Angi Máté to a friend expecting her second child. Finally, I put a board book edition of A majom mamája (Monkey Puzzle, by Julia Donaldson, illustrated by Axel Scheffler) into a transparent plastic bag and sealed it with cellotape. (It will probably be raining.) I put some stickers on it saying it was International Book Giving Day and gave the blog’s address, too. I planned to leave it on a playground but had to leave rather abruptly when my daughter started throwing a tantrum over not being allowed to go near the swings where the bigger children might accidentally hit her. The book waits to be delivered somewhere by my husband now.
